Complaining

In life we are taught at a young age about not complaining and not to worry. Yet in this lifetime, that is so hard to do. For me, I have to deal with a family who is deluded by being victims and materialism, living in Mississippi and being a homosexual I would say one has a lot to worry about. I am always the one to smile and brush things off but lately I can barely wake up with a smile on my face because I'm so depressed about my life and how things are in the world. I have come to learn that everyone is not looking out for your best interest. Hell some people don't even care about themselves which shows me that they wouldn't give a damn about me either. I Thank God for the blessings that I have so far but I know in the end only I can help me. In life our family and friends can only do so much to be there. It is time that most of us just do it own our own and be grateful. We must stop complaining about what if and what coulda been and focus on the now and what needs to be done to better our lives.. In society today their is a big confusion between needs and wants and our wants have taken over which causes people to loose sight on real life and how fucked up in can be. I'm just saying people, if you want something done right, then do it yourself. The world is not going to stop because you did.

My heart is in deep gratitude for the family that I have and my friends who closely study and observe my matriculation showering me with love and wisdom and that my Fellow UBH's is a Blessing. Blessings come from your surroundings and if your of living is not making you happy and one with self then by all means leave and make a better life for yourself but always love where you came from and your friends. As each day passes we are blessed with another breath on this earth we must strive to honor our blessings and make a better life for ourselves. Share your blessings with others in our deepest hour when our hearts may be filled with rage, anger, frustration, irritation, and you may not be in the mood to help or be kind think about your blessings in the end. The more you push forward and strive for the ultimate one can never fall. One must always respect and love people you do not have to like them yet respect thy man, you would want the same. That to me is the key to life. When you think about the Bible and our past its all about respect. If one respects the people and their surroundings go off to lead a great life. That's why its always good to think before you act and I am challenging my African-American people to start going for the distance to achieving the highest because we know what a struggle is but it does not have to last, always.

UnQuality of The Black Soul

For the Black people music is our life, our minds, our hearts, and flows through our veins. Remembering the greats to mention a few Tina Turner, The Temptations, Michael Jackson, The Supremes, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Al Green, and so many of others just too long to name. But Guyz, what happened? Was there like a cosmic bomb that just said now we make bullshit and manipulate others to buy it? I mean does anyone else feel the same way? I pray I'm not alone on this one. What happened to real artistry? Real musicians? Real writing? Real Voices? I'm not saying that we do not have any because we do its just not that many and its sad. The society we live in now is somewhat deluded in what true music really is. To be frank, when you let songs like "The Jerk" and "Stanky Leg" get a record deal and make money that's not saying much for Black Music. Pioneers in music fought their way to the top trying to get music where it is now. Ms. Lenna Horne, Ms. Leontyne Price, and Mr. Nat King Cole were are leaders in the act to improve the standards of music int he Black Culture and breaking barriers. I Honor them and so should you. Back to the matter, this has got to stop. I am seeing that real music is coming back to life and I am so excited to be alive when it happens. I cannot stress enough how depressing it is to see so many great singers from the 70's, 80's, 90's and even now falling out of the spotlight because people only wanna shake they ass and follow trends. If you pay close attention black music and fashion was marketed the same way. Our music pushed the envelope and dared to be different like Prince and Rick James such as fashion designers do themselves. Black music set the trends, not followed. If something is not done, we'll be last season and no one ever wants that.

Wanting More....

Hi Guyz, Tobias in to discuss this with my fellow UBH's. My friends are a serious matter to me. I think sometimes I care more about pleasing them and being there than I care for myself which is not healthy but I was just raised that way. Its a Southern thing, lol. But earlier I talked to my friend who happens to be HIV+ and I believe that this illness is nothing to play with yet nothing to end your life over. I will admit the thought of HIV and AIDS scares the hell out of me but I know that diseases are not God's way of punishing people they just happen and its up to you to take care of your physical and mental being. But to anyone with this illness this does not mean that your life is over. I'm at tears thinking about how he must feel inside. Talking to him seems like he only focuses on the bad side of it, not that there is a bright side but life can always be worst. Maybe that's how I look at it. I mean UBH's one cannot take a negative aspect of their life and dwell, cry, and moan about what life could be, should be, or would be if things were different. It's life and as hard as we would like to change it we can't. One must learn to mature, deal , and make wise decisions. That's all as humans we can do. He has been shut out society because shallow people in our own community look down upon him for something that hits so close to home. However, in the end he'll will. I don't doubt it one bit. He just has to realize that in the end only he can go to God for himself not those who down him. With that being said, take this to the heart UBH's always worry about how YOU feel about yourself. At the end of the day only you can prevent forest fires. If you're smart you get what I mean. Keep your head up and you mind forward kiddos.

It is back to school time which means one thing: STRESS WITH AID, CLASSES, AND GETTING YOUR DAMN DEGREE. When we were kids and teens if our mentors would have thoroughly explained the stress of college I honestly think half of the world would not go. Who wants to stress all day with financial aid now. IDK how predominately white schools handle that process but at an HBCU(my school of choice) one can wait for hours and days for aid to come through. Then have to deal with getting in classes. It irks me so! It's like why so much drama and delay. We pay you to work so at least handle our business properly and in a timely manner. Is that too much too ask? I have seen friends and fellow peers literally break down of stress due to trouble with school. Yet you know what makes it worse...your damn nosey ass PARENTS. Will Smith said it best "they just don't understand." Seriously! They talk to you about what your major should be, how you should act, how you should attend class, what school you should have went too. Notice all of the "should's." But this is my favorite "well back in my day...." well guess what it's not YOUR day anymore so shut it up. Times have changed and so have we. Yes we do have the luxury of more but the quality of education has went down because we do not value education as we should which is our fault but I digress. August and January makes me want to shoot up the business office but if I did that no refund check and we all love that.So to all who are going through problems don't worry Tobias understands. Get you a nice cocktail or smoke, however you deal after its all over. HaHa.

How To Commit?

One could say that it is hard finding that special someone to love, honor and obey for eternity. And hell that's a long time I do not know how people do it, but I digress. Today, commitment seems to be one of the major reasons relationships last shorter than ever. But what happens when you just cannot commit. I mean no matter how much counseling, praying, exercises one may do but just cannot do it. This is for that individual. Women, stop saying you want a relationship if you cannot handle and are not ready to give the time and nurture it takes to love a man. When you look at a Black Man what do you see? Take a deep look into the soul of a Black Man and behind the pride and culture he is a man longing for acceptance, respect, and love from his family and peers. In society the Black Man is not has become divided in two. I like to call them "the haves and have-nots." Yet the "haves" are educated, groomed, humble, charismatic, and loving. Those are the Black Men that need tender, loving, care. It is time that we as human beings stop acting as if they don't exist. Although the media and life over shadow us with the images of hoodlums and deadbeats that lifestyle cannot depict the life of all Black Men. Things can only happen as long as you let it. So to my Black Men stand up and stand out more than ever. We know you are here. Minority Black Men are somewhat in the same predicament as homosexuals so to speak. We are both are educated, persistent, and professional. It is okay to want more for your life that does not include violence and drugs. Just because people say it does not make it true. The Black man is not to be ignored but admired. We know we all have mental hangups yet if we support one another more and left our pride aside we would come to understand that we are all the same no matter what our sexuality may be.
